sun run week 8 & 9 - my foundation

Rest recovery mode!
I was listening to my body and I decided to rest my knees which gave me some grief over the last two weeks.
A few hours after our 5 km trial run, I took my dog out for a walk and managed to do something else to the back of the knee.
After skipping a big puddle, the way I landed was wrong, I think I must have pulled something, most likely because I didn\'t stretch enough after running.
This is very frustrating because I feel that I have made good progress in my training . . . . . . Also, I am not a person who likes to be slowed down!
But if I\'m going to do a Sun Run in April 23, I need to slow down and rest my legs.
So I\'m going to use this blog entry to write my fitness training program at Twist Performance and health instead of not writing at all this week (Tri-City location).
I started training with Twist in October 2015.
In fact, I decided to add their 6 week trial plan through the posts I saw on Facebook.
I have been saying to myself for a few years that I need to take the time to improve my fitness.
I \'ve been taking a series of classes that I like, but I didn\'t find anything that worked when they were over.
We have a treadmill, bike, universal weighing machine and free weight in our basement. (
Yes . . . . . . I know, almost everything you need! )
But I know I need to join some organizations that give me motivation.
When I saw this twisted ad on Facebook feed, they were looking for someone who would be willing to exercise 3 times a week and follow the 6 week healthy eating plan.
I read it a few times and looked at their website and thought I could work on the project and try it for 6 weeks.
What have I lost?
My regular classes at Twist are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from six o\'clock A. M. to 7: 15 am.
I am a morning person and prefer to finish my exercise in the morning . . . . . . This may not happen if not.
Yes, it\'s hard to wake up three times a week at 5: 20 a. m. to exercise.
Dedication is for sure!
I \'ve been traveling for a while to work, so in the end I did miss the classes, but do my best to make up for them as much as possible.
They are very flexible when twisting, and I can play around as long as there is room for a lesson.
My project at Twist is a class-based exercise conditioning program with a focus on training your whole body.
Weekly exercises include \"complete\" programs on Monday and Wednesday and high-intensity interval training (HIIT)
Class on Friday.
The size of the class may vary, but every morning we have about a dozen people and one or two coaches.
I do a photo of the \"disgusting\" shuffle on the Agile ladder.
I love the work of the ladder!
Typical exercises for Twist include: a 10-minute warm-up-aerobic exercise, weight exercise, and exercise, get the body ready for 10 minutes of core and stability training-different variations of boards and balances working on Bosu balls or smart muscle balance boards-3 or 4 light weight Practice series, TRX or smart tuner, usually warm up for 2 3-3 complexes
4 exercises involving weights/smart tuners/cores for strength training are done with interval adjustment circuitry-usually 30-45 seconds, 10 seconds transition.
Sprint, battle rope, bike sprint, bosu power overs, medicine ball slam, agile ladder, etc.
After a year and a half, I still like to work out at Twist.
When boss George retired from his first career, he decided to open a gym . . . . . . Haha!
Twist is a franchise developed by Peter Twist, who has trained Canadians . . . . . . .
So there are a lot of ideas behind the way you train in this gym.
This is the first class-based program I attended, and weight/strength training is an integral part of the exercise.
This is important to me because I believe strength training will help me through my life.
When I was 70, what I did in my 40 s now would help . . . . . . Yes, I want to be the active 80-year-old.
Our regular coach Kieran McWilliams keeps our morning exercises fresh and challenging.
He recognizes everyone\'s abilities and continues to challenge everyone in his own way.
He may only be half my age, but he did a great job in getting in touch with clients . . . . . . Hey, he\'s probably getting some great old age music education as well!
In the past year or so, I met some great people at Twist.
It seems scary for those who join for the first time, but our veterans do their best to help newbies, as we used to be newbies.
People may come and go, but our regulars come here every morning with the hair on the head of the bed!
