Michael Trauttmansdorff has always been there, Hay.
There are rolling hills on his 250 acres of farmland.
The 30-year-old trautmansdorf still lives on a property purchased by his Austrian immigrant parents in jerseville, Ontario in 1980.
He talked passionately about the crops his parents had grown for more than 30 years.
\"On the farm, we are always very relevant to nature and where our food comes from, and we really get a lot of joy out of it and see our crops mature,\" said trautmansdorf, behind is the ups and downs of the green hills.
Trauttmansdorff has helped run Dunlea farm, which now mainly grows pet hay and has developed a small feeder, which is full of dense hay
Trauttmansdorff and his neat breeder are one of the 10 finalists in the lion\'s nest.
Trauttmansdorff said he would never recover his growing experience on the farm.
By the side of his father Fritz, agriculture dates back to the extent that he remembered it.
He went to the University of Toronto to study aerospace engineering and enjoyed the city\'s environment.
\"So I\'m kind of like a chameleon,\" he said . \".
Trauttmansdorff also seems to be a bit chameleon in professional terms.
His real passion, he says, is design and travel to the Netherlands for a graduate degree in product design.
When he came back, he managed to combine his engineering skills, a sense of design and a family farming background.
The final product is a neat feeder.
The idea of a neat feeder once appeared on a napkin.
\"All good ideas are on napkins,\" says Trauttmansdorff . \".
He knows that after doing some customer research, he wants to sell the product in the carton.
Trauttmansdorff found that the little pet owners are most concerned about the Hay mess around the house and in the cage.
This is a problem that Trauttmansdorff believes can be solved by \"changing packaging.
\"After Gluing and folding the cardboard into various box options, the decision to stick to the final design was made after a focus group with potential customers. \"The a-
\"Ha, instantly in the eyes of the customer,\" he said, remembering the unanimous consent he received when he showed them what would become a neat feeder.
He even invented the method of packing boxes.
\"We realized that no one had packed the hay heavily into the box,\" he said . \"
Operate the machine to do this.
The neat feeding box is in the non-
But it was crowded by five of his employees in the House of the Dunley farm.
The product has been on the market since its launch in the spring of 2010.
Trauttmansdorff first launched Tidy Feeder at the global pet food and independent store in Southern Ontario.
Dunlea Farm offers a neat feeder for two sizes and three different varieties of hays.
For infants, Alfalfa hay is rich in the protein needed for bone development, with low fiber content and therefore does not destroy the digestive system.
A variety containing higher fibers-a mixture of Alfalfa and Timothy Hayaged pets.
In order to promote healthy digestion, pure Timothy Hay is prepared for older pets.
Trauttmansdorff said the product was distributed at Pet Valu stores nationwide in 2011 and overseas in Asia and the UK.
On Wednesday, he showed off a shipment to Taiwan.
\"There is potential all over the world,\" he said of the neat feeder . \".
Trauttmansdorff believes that what his company needs to do better is marketing products, and he believes that training in the lion\'s nest competition may be helpful.
\"Consumers are not yet aware of the existence of such a solution,\" said Trauttmansdorff . \".
Trauttmansdorff\'s wife, Hanh, saw the advertisement for the lion\'s nest and caught his attention.
\"She thinks it will be a good opportunity to help expand,\" he said . \".
Trauttmansdorff agreed.
He cast his place and finally entered the top 10.
He said he currently has an agreement with an American dealer that the $100,000 bonus will be dedicated to expanding this possible demand.
Trauttmansdorff said his product should win because he hired employees locally and had the ambition to expand to create another success story for Hamilton.
\"I had a great time developing neat feeders,\" he said . \".
\"My goal is to grow the business so that I can have a larger team around me to make it run really well and continue to invent new good products.
\"Trauttmansdorff says he has some ideas\" is brewing, but it will take another year or more to get to the market.
\"Trauttmansdorff is most proud to offer quality Canadian products to local pet owners.
\"We want to be a supplier of southern Ontario feeding southern Ontario pets,\" he said . \".
