Sanjay Gupta, CNN\'s chief medical correspondent (voice-over)
I rode with Lieutenant Craig Amin. ph).
He has been working for 30 years.
When he makes an overdose, he tells you that the usual suspect is a pain killer. (on camera)
What impact did you see in Seattle? CRAIG AMIN (ph)
If you gather a group of people from this community, someone in this group will have a friend, a loved one, either having trouble with prescription drugs or possibly dying as a result. GUPTA (voice-over): Amin (ph)
The department responds monthly to 45 overdoses involving such drugs. AMIN (ph)

This is important.
It\'s hard to tell if it\'s painkillers or heroin because they come from the same ingredients and do the same thing to your body. (on camera)
: In addition to the needle marks on the arm, someone took an excessive amount of painkillers, like heroin, and they looked very similar. AMIN (ph): Absolutely.
They may lose consciousness because they think of drugs that are relatively safe for them, because they don\'t get drugs on the street, but they get them from pharmacists.
Unidentified male: 36 yards red (ph). AMIN (ph)
It could be an overdose.
These people are suffering from chronic pain.
They know it\'s helpful to take some painkillers.
So maybe there will be more help.
When we arrived there was also a medical staff on site. (on camera)

Zhao: CNN just reported the news.
In the ongoing dispute over our national ports and possible strikes, we have just learned that the parties have resolved the issue of royalties and they have agreed to negotiate another 30 days on other issues.
The bottom line is that it means there will be no attacks on more than a dozen eastern ports in a month. Amid-
The consequences of the collapse from the fiscal cliff are as follows.
A tax relief that would save troubled homeowners from paying the IRS thousands of dollars would expire.
Our Alison corsik explained this on the New York Stock Exchange.
Alison, what the hell is this?
CNN Business reporter Alison kosike: First of all, Alina, this will affect anyone who cancels a foreclosure on their house or sells their house in a so-called short sale.
When you sell your house at a loss but avoid foreclosure.
This could involve millions of people.
This is about a law enacted in 2007 called the mortgage exemption Debt Relief Act.
Suppose you sell your house for $100,000, but your mortgage is $150,000 and you usually have to pay taxes on the remaining $50,000.
The law makes excuses for homeowners to pay taxes.
As part of the fiscal cliff, the law will expire in a few days.
If Congress does nothing, homeowners who sell their homes at a loss will face a big tax bill.
It could be tens of thousands of dollars.
This is at least when they can afford it. -Alina?
Zhao: What did the market do today about all the news about the fiscal cliff and think it is possible?
KOSIK: The market is selling a little bit.
The Dow Jones index fell 75 points.
There are rumors that Congress will reopen over the weekend and we did see the market improve yesterday.
But the sell-off continues.
There is not much confidence in whether the deal can be reached, which is why you see the Dow Jones index down 76 points ---Alina?
Zhao: OK, Alison Keswick from The New York Stock Exchange.
Nice to see you as always.
Thanks, Alison.

Outside a convenience store, the old man was shot.
No one was arrested.
For decades, Chicago has struggled to overcome the proliferation of gun violence.
The number of killings this year has increased by 17% over last year.
But that\'s still half the murder rate 20 years ago.
According to Chicago police, there were 943 killings in 1992.
In suburban St.
Louis, suppose a so-called store pickpocket chose the wrong store on the wrong date.
It happened shortly before Christmas.
The man tried to leave with the stolen wine and had a scuffle with a female worker.
Just then, professional boxer and martial artist Jesse Finney walked into the store and saw the commotion and took action. (

Zhao: you may have heard that the fiscal cliff is described as self.
A crisis was created.
It just means it doesn\'t come out of nowhere.
The bottom line is this.
No matter what happens, we do it to ourselves.
CNN Correspondent Ali Velshi showed us how we got here. (Start Video)GEORGE W. BUSH, FMR.
President of the United States: Now, we have adopted a bold tax relief program for families and businesses in the United States.
Ali velshi, CNN\'s chief business correspondent: more than ten years ago, when it started-
President Bush has launched a series of tax cuts for all Americans.
But it\'s a deal with the devil.
The cuts are politically expedient, but they are costly for the government and will expire in 10 years.
US President Barack Obama: both houses of Congress have passed tax breaks to protect the middle class.
VELSHI: when the cuts expire, the United StatesS.
Just out of the worst recession since the Great Depression.
So President Obama agreed to extend the tax cut for another two years in exchange for Congress to extend federal emergency unemployment benefits.
These cuts are expensive.
If it were extended until 2020, Bush-
Era\'s tax cuts will bring more than half of the country\'s total debt.
Democrats insist that taxes on the rich will increase, but for those who earn less than $250,000 a year, taxes will remain permanently unchanged. REP. JOHN BOEHNER (R-OH)
Speaker of the House: we need to stop this work
We need to start cutting our spending now.
Republicans refuse to play.
They say not raising interest rates for the rich, not raising taxes for anyone, is based on an ideology that calls for the government to be as small as possible.
Now its roots are as old as American politics, but today the main speaker of philosophy is this man, Grover Norquest, president of tax reform in the United States.
Almost all congressional Republicans have signed his promise to ban signers from raising taxes under any circumstances.
Things will move forward in the summer of 2011.
Republicans are demanding a deficit reduction as a condition for raising the debt ceiling.

The board cut, known as \"quarantine\", will come into effect from January 2013, right at the exact moment when Bush\'s tax cuts expire, and if you remember, the tax cuts will be extended for two years.
So the point is that we can all see this coming.
Some of us did.
We yelled at it, but we were overwhelmed by the election.
It seems that common sense and good management are often overwhelmed by endless ongoing elections in the United States.
This time, there may be a serious price for this. (END VIDEOTAPE)
Zhao: put it here today.
President Obama will meet with Democratic and Republican leaders in Congress at the White House.
That is 3: 00. m. Eastern Time.

You must work.
I\'m making hamburgers.
I\'m an assistant to the dentist.
I work in a car shop and change oil.
I\'m definitely a work-study guy.
Zhao: 17% of Latinos drop out of high school.
Fewer than half of adults have college degrees.
Therefore, in 2010, she set up a foundation dedicated to helping Latinos receive university education.
So I can only chat with them.

Zhao: the space shuttle Atlanta has flown millions of miles for decades, helping NASA reach new heights.
It will make headlines again, but this time it\'s only 25 feet off the ground.
Finally a flight is in July of 2011.
This is also the last space shuttle project in NASA\'s history, the end of an era.
The next time the public sees the spacecraft, it will be housed in a special museum at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
There will be a grand opening ceremony this summer.
In addition to our own John Zarella, who else will be there to update us on the project.
Wow, how do you look?
Now, let me make it clear, John. This is a 180-foot-tall shuttle.
It weighs more than 152,000 pounds.
And it\'s shrinking.
Wrapped in plastic now?
John zarrella, cnn correspondent: Yes.
You know, for the outside audience, if you don\'t know what\'s behind me, it\'s the Atlantic, packed with a 16,000 feet shrink to protect it.
You know, I\'m wearing a helmet.
We\'re in there.
As we spoke, there were people working, building, museums around the space shuttle \"Atlanta\", working nearly 24/7 people to prepare for the grand opening.
Alina, you can see the angle it shows on the giant stand. That\'s a 43. 5-degree angle.
This is the angle from which the space shuttle flies in space.
Tim Messi is here with us today.
Tim is the project development director of the exhibition.
Tim, I know that when you turn it over in early November, you open one of the doors in order to get Atlanta in.
It must be a feat to get it in.
Tim Messi, project director at Atlanta: Well, the Wall, the entire back wall is about 82. 5 feet wide.
There are more than 80 wingshows here.
So it\'s touching and moving.
You got around the big turn, pulled in, backed it up a little and came right where it was supposed to be.
There is a very interesting story.
We still have about 50 people when it finally comes in and gets to the scene at the end of the day.
Very quiet.
All the machines are off.
I heard a guy yell, \"I told you it\'s a good fit.
That\'s you. (LAUGHTER)
Messi: it\'s me.
But it\'s funny. (LAUGHTER)
But the space is very tight, but it will be a great way to show this to the public.
I know a lot of viewers are thinking, can I touch the shuttle?
Can I go in by bus?
Messi: No, few people will occasionally, except those who have studied it and have driven it ---
There are occasional anchors inside.
This is a priceless artifact.
We can\'t let you touch it.
We will be very, very close to you.
In fact, we have taken out some of the components of the shuttle itself, such as the toilet and the living area, which will be on display.
You can get a hand
The feeling of this.
We\'ll actually show you what it\'s like to go to the toilet in space.
Oh, happy. Thanks, Tim. (LAUGHTER)
We appreciate you taking the time to be with us.
Alina, you can see that this will be the grand opening ceremony on July.
This is a $100 million facility. -CHO: Wow.
ZARRELLA: they are building 90,000 square feet around the shuttle.
Let me tell you.
I mean, it\'s really weird to look at it with shrink wrap.
I saw a boat on the highway. -
I believe you and many viewers have-
Wrap with this material.
But the first time I saw the space shuttle shrink-packed ---Alina? CHO: Yes.
It\'s incredible.
I know you \'ve seen a lot.
In fact, I went to Cape Canaveral at night to see the shuttle launch.
For people who don\'t know, the skylight opens, just like in the middle of the day.
Herrera: That\'s right.
Zhao: It\'s incredible.
ZARRELLA: Yes.
Zhao: It\'s great that people can see this in July.
Thank you, John.
ZARRELLA: Yes.
Zhao: what we should mention is that the \"Atlanta\" finished its first mission in October 3, 1985.
Eventually, it flew 33 times into space.
It is on permanent display with two other shuttles at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington. C.
California Science Center in Los Angeles.
We also want to bring you out of Florida.

The huge storm that has caused huge problems since Christmas has finally ended.
Maine was the last to deal with the matter.
Some places have 1 feet thick snow, but it\'s not over yet.
Meteorologist Chad Myers is watching at CNN Weather Center.
So Chad, you know, I think when this storm is over, okay, okay.
Not that great. Lots of snow.
Chad Myers, ams meteorologist: Yes.
But it\'s over, it\'s not over.
Miles: It\'s not over yet.
There is also one behind.
I thought you \'d say, let\'s go from snake to Chad.
So I\'m glad you changed from snake to thin. (LAUGHTER)
This liner is just a little bit. Thank you.
Zhao: I won\'t say anything like this.
Miles: 65% in the United StatesS.
It\'s covered with snow now.
The best thing we could do last year was in February, when snow had covered 48%.
So the storm you said really covered the East Coast and the middle of the Plains very well.
The good snow we will use later will either melt or get water in the Mississippi River, because at this time it is at a record low level.
It\'s raining here now.
New Orleans is in your West and we see some weather that will be with you in the next few hours.
Some parts of the Northeast are windy, but not so bad.

Snow falls in New York City on Saturday.
Now, how does it get from Memphis to New York City?
Well, it will take some time.
It will travel back and forth in this Ohio Valley, with showers in the south and plenty of snow.
There are two to 4 inch kilometers along the border here.
I would say that parts of Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Evansville, Cincinnati, Columbus are back in Pennsylvania.
We will be in the next hour. -Alina?
Zhao: There are many places in Chad miles. (LAUGHTER)
Okay, Chad. thank you very much.
Miles: You\'re welcome.
