Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional and important celebration in China for over 2,000 years, which falls on June 14 (Monday) this year. On October 30th, 2009 it was added to the UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
Some of the most traditional customs include dragon boat racing, eating sticky rice dumplings (zongzi), hanging Chinese mugwort and columns, drinking realgar wine, and wearing perfume pouches.
Most Dragon Boat Festival customs have been developed to prevent diseases and keep healthy.
