In 2006, British law enforcement foiled a plot to use a liquid combination to destroy the plane, prompting officials to ban more than a certain volume of liquid on the plane.
Similarly, on Christmas Day 2009, Umar Farouk Abdul Mutalab attempted to bomb the flight from Amsterdam to Detroit.
He sneaked the bomb into his underwear.
